Job Description

As a Rail Service Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and pleasant journey for our rail passengers. This entry-level position focuses on providing exceptional customer service, assisting with passenger inquiries, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, and supporting the overall operational efficiency of our rail services in the Maitland region. Full training will be provided to equip you with all necessary skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service to all passengers, including assistance with ticketing, directions, and general inquiries.
  • Ensure passenger safety and comfort by monitoring platforms and trains, and adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Assist passengers with special needs, including those with disabilities or requiring mobility support.
  • Communicate important service announcements and updates clearly and concisely.
  • Support station operations, including platform management and crowd control during peak times or disruptions.
  • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or suspicious activities to appropriate personnel immediately.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude as a representative of Transport for NSW.
  • Undertake all necessary training and development as required for the role.
