Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented State/Provincial Disability Claims Processor to join our team in Bath. In this rewarding role, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of disability claims from initial assessment through to resolution. You will act as a crucial point of contact for claimants, ensuring their cases are handled with sensitivity, accuracy, and in compliance with all relevant policies and regulations. This is an on-site position based in our Bath office, where you will collaborate closely with medical professionals, legal teams, and other internal departments to facilitate timely and fair outcomes for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process new disability claims, including reviewing applications and supporting documentation.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with claimants, providing updates and explaining claim decisions.
  • Gather additional medical, financial, and vocational information as needed to assess claim eligibility.
  • Collaborate with medical advisors, vocational specialists, and legal counsel.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date claim records in the system.
  • Adhere to all regulatory guidelines and company policies.
  • Identify and report potential fraudulent claims.
  • Manage a caseload efficiently to meet service level agreements and processing deadlines.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation for claim reviews and appeals.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a claims processing or similar administrative role, preferably within insurance or financial services.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in using claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and empathy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree or professional qualification in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Law, or Healthcare.
  • Experience with UK disability benefits or social security systems.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role requiring conflict resolution.
