Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This is an exceptional opportunity for an international professional, as we are prepared to support qualified candidates through the LMIA / Skilled Worker Visa process. As a Structural Engineer at Kimley-Horn, you will play a crucial role in the design and analysis of various structures for a diverse portfolio of projects. You will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and efficiency of designs, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, and contributing to the successful delivery of our clients’ visions. We are looking for an individual with a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to engineering excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for a variety of building and infrastructure projects using relevant codes and standards.
- Develop comprehensive structural calculations, specifications, and drawings.
- Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, and other design professionals to integrate structural systems.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing conditions and monitor construction progress.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the firm's knowledge base and best practices.
- Manage project deadlines and budgets while ensuring quality control and adherence to project requirements.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, RAM Structural System)
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, building codes (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7), and design standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida, or ability to obtain within 12 months
- Experience with concrete, steel, masonry, and timber design
- Experience in post-tensioned concrete design
- LEED Accreditation or experience with sustainable design practices
