Job Description
Are you passionate about the environment and looking for a practical, hands-on role to start your career? Scottish Water is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as a Water Conservation Surveyor. This is an entry-level, field-based position where you will play a crucial role in identifying and reducing water loss within our network. Full training will be provided, equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed. You will be spending your days outdoors, working independently and as part of a team, making a real difference to water sustainability in the Falkirk area.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field surveys to identify potential leaks and areas of water waste within the distribution network.
- Operate specialist leak detection equipment (training provided) and accurately record findings.
- Engage with the public to provide advice on water efficiency and conservation measures.
- Collect and log data using handheld devices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures.
- Report findings promptly to senior surveyors and assist with follow-up actions.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations while working in the field.
Required Skills
- A strong interest in environmental issues and water conservation.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for public engagement.
- Basic literacy and numeracy for data recording.
- A proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning new skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability and good time management.
Preferred Qualifications
- A full UK driving license.
- Basic IT skills (familiarity with tablets/smartphones).
- Previous experience in a role requiring outdoor work (e.g., gardening, delivery, voluntary work) is a plus but not essential.
