Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Sugar Refinery Sweeper to join our team, working within a heavy industrial sugar refinery environment. This role is crucial for maintaining a clean, safe, and operational workspace. The successful candidate will be responsible for sweeping, cleaning, and general upkeep of designated areas within the refinery, adhering strictly to health and safety protocols. This is a demanding role involving shift work, requiring reliability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic in a dynamic industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform sweeping and general cleaning duties across various areas of the sugar refinery, including production floors, warehouses, and communal spaces.
- Operate industrial cleaning equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., floor scrubbers, power sweepers).
- Collect and dispose of waste materials, adhering to environmental and safety guidelines.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness standards throughout shifts.
- Identify and report any maintenance issues, hazards, or equipment malfunctions.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and company policies.
- Support other operational tasks as directed by management to ensure smooth refinery operations.
- Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, heavy industrial environment.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual labor, including prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and carrying.
- Reliability and punctuality, with a strong commitment to attendance for shift work.
- Basic understanding and adherence to health and safety procedures.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating industrial cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
- First Aid certification.
