Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and qualified Swimming Teacher to join our vibrant team at Riverside Leisure Centre in Exeter. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality swimming lessons to individuals and groups of all ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced swimmers. This role requires an enthusiastic individual who can create a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment, inspiring confidence and skill development in every lesson.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective swimming lessons in accordance with national governing body guidelines (e.g., Swim England) and company standards.
- Assess individual progress and provide constructive feedback to learners and parents/guardians.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times, adhering to all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and progress.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, participants, and parents/guardians.
- Act as a role model, promoting healthy lifestyles and water safety.
Required Skills
- Swim England Level 2 or STA Certificate in Swimming Teaching
- Current NPLQ or relevant lifesaving qualification
- Demonstrable experience teaching swimming to a variety of ages and abilities (minimum 12 months)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual needs
- Valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional coaching qualifications (e.g., baby & pre-school, competitive strokes)
- Experience working with individuals with special educational needs or disabilities
- First Aid at Work qualification
