Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Youth Offending Team Assistant to join our dynamic team. This rewarding role involves providing essential administrative, organisational, and direct support to the Youth Offending Team (YOT) officers and managers. You will be a key part of an integrated service that works to prevent offending by young people and ensure their successful reintegration into the community. Your contribution will directly impact the lives of young people and their families within Kensington and Chelsea.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to Youth Offending Team officers, including managing diaries, scheduling appointments, and preparing reports and correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential electronic and physical records for young people engaged with the YOT, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation of case files, court documents, and other relevant paperwork for court hearings and multi-agency meetings.
  • Act as a first point of contact for young people, their families, and external agencies, handling enquiries sensitively and efficiently.
  • Support YOT officers in coordinating and facilitating group work sessions and interventions for young people.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external partners such as police, courts, schools, and health services to gather and share information as directed.
  • Manage office supplies, equipment, and resources to ensure the smooth operation of the Youth Offending Team.
  • Process invoices, expenses, and other financial administration tasks as required.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of YOT services by providing feedback and ideas for enhancing administrative processes.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and compassionate approach.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proven administrative experience in a busy office environment.
  • Demonstrable commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a local authority, criminal justice, or youth services setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies pertaining to youth justice.
  • Experience with case management systems or databases.
  • An understanding of the challenges facing young people in urban environments.
