Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Tax Accountant to join our thriving practice in Wangaratta. This is an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate or an individual with foundational accounting knowledge looking to launch a professional career in tax. As a Junior Tax Accountant, you will work closely with experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in various aspects of Australian taxation. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of individual, company, trust, and superannuation fund tax returns.
  • Support senior accountants with tax planning and advisory services.
  • Reconcile financial statements and prepare working papers.
  • Process client financial data accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with ATO correspondence and compliance matters.
  • Maintain client records and ensure data integrity.
  • Participate in client meetings and contribute to client relationship management.
  • Undertake continuous professional development and stay updated on tax legislation changes.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Foundational understanding of Australian tax principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and develop professional skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or volunteer experience in an accounting or financial setting.
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or similar.
  • Completion of relevant accounting software certifications.
  • Aspiration to pursue professional qualifications (e.g., CA or CPA).
