Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Medical Equipment Delivery & Setup Driver to join our team in Baie Verte, NL. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery, setup, and installation of various medical equipment, with a primary focus on hospital beds, directly to patient homes and healthcare facilities. This position requires strong physical ability, excellent customer service skills, and a meticulous approach to handling sensitive medical devices. You will play a vital role in ensuring patients have access to essential equipment, contributing directly to their comfort and care.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely load, transport, deliver, and unload medical equipment, including hospital beds, wheelchairs, and other mobility aids, to various locations.
- Perform professional setup and installation of medical equipment in patient homes, clinics, and healthcare facilities according to manufacturer specifications and safety protocols.
- Provide clear and concise instructions to patients and caregivers on the proper use and basic maintenance of delivered equipment.
- Conduct basic troubleshooting and minor adjustments to equipment as needed during setup.
- Complete all necessary delivery documentation, including waivers, service agreements, and logs, accurately and legibly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-maintained company vehicle.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and healthcare safety regulations (e.g., infection control).
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members to ensure smooth operations.
- Collect and return equipment for service or decommissioning as required.
- Represent Medline Canada professionally and courteously at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy medical equipment (up to 75 lbs) independently and with assistance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to follow assembly instructions accurately.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
- Ability to work independently and manage a delivery route efficiently.
- Basic computer proficiency for dispatch systems and documentation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in delivery, logistics, or a similar service-oriented role.
- Experience handling or assembling medical equipment.
- Knowledge of Baie Verte and surrounding areas.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
