Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Telecommunications Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in Cheyenne, Wyoming. This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining our advanced telecommunications network infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our critical network operations and will be instrumental in future network expansions and upgrades. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain complex telecommunications network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and optical equipment.
- Monitor network performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime.
- Perform routine network configuration, software upgrades, and hardware installations.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity, performance, and security problems, collaborating with other engineering teams as needed.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical network incidents.
- Evaluate new network technologies and make recommendations for improvements.
- Ensure network security best practices are implemented and maintained.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to deliver network projects on time and within budget.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in telecommunications network design, implementation, and operations.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), and switching technologies.
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent network hardware.
- Knowledge of network security principles and practices (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
- Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent certifications.
- Experience with SDN/NFV concepts and technologies.
- Familiarity with cloud networking environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, Ansible) for network automation.
