Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Traffic Sign Installation Laborer to join our outdoor council team in Geelong, Victoria. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in infrastructure and contribute to local community safety. As a Laborer, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of various traffic signs and street furniture across the Geelong region. No prior experience in sign installation is required, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided. We value a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in an outdoor, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, removal, and repair of traffic signs, poles, and associated hardware.
  • Prepare work sites by digging post holes, mixing concrete, and handling materials.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment from vehicles.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including traffic management plans.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Report any hazards, incidents, or equipment malfunctions promptly.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform manual labour, including lifting, carrying, and bending.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License (manual preferred).
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • White Card (Construction Induction Card).
  • Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
  • Experience working in an outdoor or construction environment (not essential, but a plus).
