Job Description

Northern Trains is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Train Station Platform Attendant in Chesterfield. This is an entry-level position where no prior experience is required, as full comprehensive training will be provided. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and smooth flow of passengers on our platforms, providing essential assistance and information, and helping to maintain a positive station environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist passengers with inquiries, directions, and accessibility needs on platforms.
- Provide real-time information regarding train arrivals, departures, and delays.
- Ensure the safety of passengers on platforms, particularly during busy periods or when trains are approaching/departing.
- Monitor platform conditions and report any hazards or maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist with ticket checks and revenue protection as required.
- Respond to emergency situations according to established procedures, including platform evacuations.
- Operate platform equipment such as public address systems and information screens.
- Maintain a clean and orderly platform environment.
- Work collaboratively with other station staff, train crews, and control centre personnel.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and operational regulations.
