Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart your career in public health and make a real difference in your community? Serco is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Trainee Contact Tracers. This entry-level position is perfect for those with no prior experience in contact tracing, as full comprehensive training will be provided. You will play a crucial role in supporting public health efforts by contacting individuals who have been exposed to infectious diseases, providing guidance, and collecting vital information. This role requires excellent communication skills, empathy, and a commitment to public service. This is a hybrid role, combining work from home flexibility with necessary on-site training and team meetings at our Swansea office.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in comprehensive training to understand contact tracing protocols and public health guidelines.
- Conduct confidential interviews with individuals who have tested positive for infectious diseases to identify their close contacts.
- Communicate effectively with contacts, providing clear information on self-isolation, symptoms, and testing procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all interactions and data collected in secure systems.
- Provide emotional support and resources to individuals during potentially stressful situations.
- Escalate complex cases or questions to senior staff or medical professionals as required.
- Adhere strictly to data protection and confidentiality regulations (e.g., GDPR).
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills with a clear and empathetic phone manner.
- Strong active listening skills and ability to build rapport quickly.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Good basic IT literacy and comfort with data entry systems.

- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a customer service or call centre environment (advantageous but not essential).
- Fluency in Welsh or other languages (desirable).
