Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join our dedicated team in Mansfield. This vital role involves providing specialist mental health nursing care to individuals within our inpatient and community services. You will be instrumental in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care plans, ensuring the delivery of evidence-based, person-centred care. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments, formulating individualised care plans.
  • Administer medication safely and effectively, adhering to NMC guidelines and trust policies.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions and support to service users, promoting recovery and independence.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team including doctors, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
  • Participate in ward rounds, care programme approach (CPA) meetings, and other clinical discussions.
  • Offer support and education to service users' families and carers.
  • Act as a named nurse, coordinating care and advocating for service users' needs.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training opportunities.
  • Respond to and manage challenging situations and mental health crises effectively.
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for all service users and staff.

Required Skills

  • Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate mental health care.
  • Sound knowledge of mental health legislation, policies, and best practices.
  • Commitment to person-centred care and recovery-oriented practice.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation and record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year post-registration experience in a mental health setting.
  • Experience working with diverse mental health conditions across different age groups.
  • Knowledge of local community mental health services and pathways.
  • Completion of relevant post-registration courses or specialist training.
  • Experience in supervising junior staff or students.
