Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Forensic Services Division as a Trainee Forensic Lab Assistant. This is an entry-level government role designed for individuals with no prior experience in a forensic lab setting. Full comprehensive training will be provided to equip you with the essential skills and knowledge required to support our forensic scientists and contribute to critical investigations. You will play a vital role in maintaining the integrity of forensic evidence and ensuring the smooth operation of our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist forensic scientists with the preparation of samples and reagents for analysis.
- Perform basic laboratory procedures under direct supervision, following strict protocols.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, including cleaning, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.
- Accurately record and manage data, ensuring proper documentation and chain of custody.
- Prepare and maintain sterile environments for evidence handling and analysis.
- Organize and manage laboratory supplies and inventory.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and quality assurance procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities.
