Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all aspects of the apprenticeship program, including classroom learning and practical, hands-on training.
- Assist experienced mechanics with the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various postal vehicles, ranging from light delivery trucks to heavy-duty vehicles.
- Learn to perform preventive maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks.
- Shadow senior mechanics to understand advanced diagnostic procedures and complex repair techniques for engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Document work performed accurately and timely, learning to use fleet management software.
- Demonstrate a continuous willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and repair methods.
Required Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in vehicle repair.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic problem-solving skills and a keen attention to detail.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with vehicle maintenance.
