Global Commerce Solutions Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Tariff & Trade Classifier to join our growing team in Sioux Falls, SD. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for individuals with no prior experience in trade classification, as comprehensive training will be provided. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate classification of goods according to government regulations and international tariff codes, directly contributing to efficient and compliant trade operations. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in an intensive training program covering tariff classification principles, customs regulations, and trade agreements.
- Assist senior classifiers in researching and interpreting complex trade regulations and tariff schedules.
- Learn to accurately classify goods based on their characteristics, use, and composition using the Harmonized System (HS) code.
- Support the preparation of documentation required for import/export compliance.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure data accuracy and compliance with all relevant government commerce guidelines.
- Stay updated on changes in trade legislation and tariff codes through continuous learning.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
