Key Responsibilities
- Manage the safe and efficient dispatch of trains according to schedule and operational procedures.
- Monitor train movements, track conditions, and signalling systems from a control room environment.
- Communicate effectively with train drivers, control centre staff, and other operational teams.
- Respond to unexpected events, incidents, or emergencies, making quick and informed decisions to maintain safety and service.
- Accurately complete logbooks and records of train movements and operational activities.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, operational rules, and company policies at all times.
- Participate actively in all required training programs and continuous professional development.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely.
- Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure, making sound decisions quickly.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential for shift work.
- Basic IT literacy for using operational systems.
- A strong commitment to safety and adherence to rules.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
- Previous experience in a role requiring high levels of responsibility or critical decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to learn complex operational procedures quickly.
- A genuine interest in the railway industry and its operations.
