Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Transport Planning Intern to join our dynamic team in Liverpool. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual passionate about sustainable urban development and smart city initiatives to gain hands-on experience in a leading global consultancy. You will contribute to various projects focused on creating efficient, sustainable, and technologically advanced transport systems. This role is designed for those eager to learn and grow within the field, providing a foundational understanding of transport planning principles and their application in smart city contexts. Full training and mentorship will be provided, making this an ideal entry-level position for students or recent graduates.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior transport planners with data collection and analysis for various projects.
- Support the development of transport models and simulations.
- Conduct research on emerging smart city technologies and sustainable transport solutions.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and technical documentation.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to brainstorming sessions.
- Help with the evaluation of transport impact assessments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on integrated urban development projects.
- Contribute to the implementation of digital tools and innovative approaches in transport planning.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, Geography, Transport Planning, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- A genuine interest in sustainable transport, smart cities, and urban mobility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) or transport modelling software is a plus.
- Basic understanding of data analysis techniques.
- Previous academic projects or coursework related to transport planning or smart cities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
