Job Description

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Urban Designer to join our dynamic team in Liverpool City Centre. In this role, you will contribute to a diverse range of projects, from large-scale masterplans to detailed public realm designs, both locally and internationally. You will play a key part in developing innovative and sustainable urban solutions, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to create places that enhance people’s lives and respect the environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and develop urban design concepts, masterplans, and strategies.
  • Produce high-quality design drawings, reports, and presentations.
  • Conduct site analysis, research, and policy reviews to inform design solutions.
  • Collaborate effectively with architects, landscape architects, engineers, and other specialists.
  • Present design proposals to clients and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to public consultation processes and workshops.
  • Assist in the preparation of fee proposals and project bids.
  • Stay abreast of current urban design trends, best practices, and innovative technologies.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in urban design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and SketchUp.
  • Strong graphic communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of sustainable urban development principles and practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
  • Familiarity with Rhino and other 3D modelling software.
  • Membership in a relevant professional institution (e.g., RTPI, LI, RIBA).
  • Experience working on international projects.
  • Knowledge of UK planning policy and urban design guidance.
