Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Virtual Website Accessibility Tester to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for individuals with personal screen reader experience to transition their expertise into a professional role. You will play a crucial part in evaluating websites and web applications for accessibility compliance, primarily using various screen readers and other assistive technologies. Full training on accessibility standards (WCAG) and professional testing methodologies will be provided. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive accessibility testing of websites and web applications using screen readers (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) and other assistive technologies.
- Identify, document, and report accessibility issues and violations based on WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) standards.
- Collaborate with development and design teams to provide clear, actionable feedback for remediation.
- Participate in training sessions and continuous learning to stay updated on the latest accessibility standards and best practices.
- Contribute to the improvement of our testing processes and tools.
- Advocate for accessibility best practices across all projects.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in using at least one major screen reader (e.g., NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver) for personal web browsing and daily tasks.
- Strong understanding of how screen readers interact with web content.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify subtle accessibility nuances.
- Basic familiarity with web technologies such as HTML and CSS.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate findings clearly.
- A genuine passion for digital accessibility and an inclusive internet.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) principles and success criteria.
- Experience with other assistive technologies or accessibility testing tools.
- Prior experience in a quality assurance or testing role (professional experience not required for this specific role).
- Relevant certifications such as CPACC, WAS, or equivalent.
- Ability to read and interpret basic JavaScript.
