Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Watchmaking Lead to join our Luxury Service Centre in Geelong. This pivotal role involves overseeing the repair, maintenance, and restoration of high-end timepieces, ensuring all work meets the rigorous standards of our represented luxury brands. The Watchmaking Lead will not only perform intricate watchmaking tasks but also mentor junior technicians, manage workflow, and uphold the highest levels of quality control and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of watchmakers and technicians, providing guidance and technical support.
  • Perform complex diagnostic, repair, and maintenance services on a wide range of luxury mechanical and quartz watches.
  • Ensure all repairs meet brand-specific quality standards and turnaround times.
  • Oversee inventory of parts and tools, ensuring efficient management and procurement.
  • Implement and maintain quality control protocols for all outgoing timepieces.
  • Train and develop junior watchmakers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
  • Manage workflow and scheduling to optimize productivity and service delivery.
  • Liaise with the customer service team regarding repair statuses and technical inquiries.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant workshop environment.
  • Stay updated with new technologies and techniques in watchmaking through continuous professional development.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience as a watchmaker, preferably with luxury brands.
  • Advanced technical skills in the repair and servicing of mechanical and quartz movements.
  • Proficiency with specialized watchmaking tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to precision craftsmanship.
  • Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • WOSTEP, SAWTA, or equivalent internationally recognized watchmaking certification.
  • Experience working with specific high-end Swiss or German watch brands.
  • Prior experience in a lead or supervisory watchmaking role.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems in a luxury service environment.
