Job Description

Electrix Limited is seeking motivated and adventurous individuals to join our team as Trainee Wind Turbine Blade Inspectors. This is an entry-level position where no prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive training to equip you with all the skills needed to excel. If you’re comfortable working at heights, have a willingness to travel extensively across New Zealand, and are passionate about renewable energy, this could be the perfect career launch for you. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational integrity and efficiency of wind turbines by identifying and documenting blade damage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all provided training programs covering blade inspection techniques, safety protocols, and industry standards.
  • Safely ascend and descend wind turbine towers and blades using specialized equipment, adhering strictly to all safety guidelines.
  • Travel to various wind farm locations throughout New Zealand as required for inspection assignments.
  • Assist experienced inspectors in conducting thorough visual and tactile inspections of wind turbine blades for defects such as cracks, erosion, and delamination.
  • Accurately document all inspection findings, including detailed observations, measurements, and photographic evidence.
  • Operate and maintain inspection tools and equipment responsibly.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and site personnel.
  • Adhere to all company health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Comfortable working at significant heights (training for rope access provided)
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout New Zealand, often for prolonged periods
  • Strong attention to detail and observation skills
  • Ability to learn new technical skills quickly and adapt to changing environments
  • Good physical condition and ability to perform physically demanding tasks
  • Valid New Zealand full driver's license (or ability to obtain one)
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
  • No prior experience in wind turbine inspection is required – full training provided

Preferred Qualifications

  • First Aid certification
  • Basic mechanical or technical aptitude
  • Previous experience in outdoor work, manual labor, or roles requiring travel
  • Familiarity with basic computer applications for data entry and reporting
