Job Description

Northland Power Inc. is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as a Wind Turbine Blade Inspector (Trainee). No prior experience is required, as we provide comprehensive training from the ground up. This role is perfect for those who are comfortable working at heights, possess a strong sense of adventure, and are eager to travel to various wind farm locations. You will learn to perform critical inspections of wind turbine blades, identifying and documenting any damage or wear to ensure optimal performance and longevity of our assets. This is a dynamic role that combines technical learning with hands-on field experience across diverse environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all provided safety and technical training programs.
- Learn to ascend and descend wind turbine towers safely using appropriate equipment and procedures.
- Assist experienced inspectors in conducting visual inspections of wind turbine blades for defects such as cracks, erosion, and lightning damage.
- Accurately document inspection findings, including detailed descriptions and photographic evidence.
- Learn to use specialized inspection tools and software under supervision.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and site personnel.
- Maintain all issued equipment in good working order.
- Travel frequently to various wind energy project sites, which may include remote locations and overnight stays.
Required Skills
- Comfortable working at significant heights and in confined spaces.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, often on short notice.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical fitness to perform manual tasks, including climbing and lifting.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or experience with hand tools.
- Previous experience working outdoors or in industrial settings.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
- Safety certifications (e.g., GWO Basic Safety Training, Working at Heights) are a plus, but training will be provided if needed.
