Job Description
Simi Valley Cellars is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Tasting Room Pourer to join our team for weekend shifts. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about wine or eager to learn, providing a welcoming atmosphere for our guests while guiding them through our wine selections. You will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, conducting wine tastings, and educating visitors about our wines and winery history. We value a friendly demeanor, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to creating an enjoyable experience for every guest.
Key Responsibilities
- Greeting guests warmly upon arrival and providing a memorable tasting experience.
- Educating guests about Simi Valley Cellars' wines, history, and winemaking process.
- Conducting guided wine tastings, pouring samples, and explaining flavor profiles.
- Processing sales transactions accurately using our POS system.
- Assisting with light food preparation and presentation (e.g., cheese boards).
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the tasting room and surrounding areas.
- Assisting with inventory management and stocking of wine and merchandise.
- Promoting wine club memberships and special events.
- Adhering to all ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) regulations.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and outgoing personality.
- Ability to work weekend shifts, including Saturdays and Sundays.
- Basic computer proficiency for POS system operation.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
- Willingness to learn about wine and the wine industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in hospitality, retail, or customer service.
- Knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and tasting techniques (or a strong desire to learn).
- Ability to speak multiple languages.
