Job Description
AusGrain Logistics is seeking dedicated and physically fit individuals to join our team as a Bulk Grain Shoveller for the upcoming seasonal harvest in Mandurah, Western Australia. This is a temporary, full-time role vital to our grain handling operations, ensuring efficient movement and storage of agricultural commodities critical to Australia’s economy. As a Bulk Grain Shoveller, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth flow of grain within our storage facilities. This is a hands-on position requiring a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. We are looking for reliable individuals eager to contribute to regional agriculture. Full training will be provided, making this an excellent opportunity for those seeking seasonal employment or looking to gain experience in the logistics and agricultural sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually shovelling and clearing bulk grain (wheat, barley, canola, etc.) in storage sheds, bunkers, and silos.
- Assisting with the efficient receival and out-loading of grain from trucks and trains.
- Operating basic grain handling equipment such as sweep augers under supervision, after training.
- Ensuring storage areas are kept clean, tidy, and free from spillages to prevent contamination and ensure workplace safety.
- Conducting routine inspections of work areas for potential hazards and reporting them promptly.
- Strictly adhering to all company safety policies and procedures, including confined space entry and working at heights protocols.
- Working collaboratively with team members to achieve daily operational targets.
- Performing other general labour duties as required to support grain operations.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding manual labour tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to work effectively in environments that may be dusty, noisy, or involve exposure to varying weather conditions.
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and following instructions diligently.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cohesive team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to take direction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manual labour, agricultural, or industrial setting is an advantage but not essential.
- Current Forklift Operator's Licence (LF Class) is highly regarded.
- Basic understanding of agricultural practices or grain handling.
- First Aid Certificate.
