Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and meticulous Financial Controller to lead our finance operations in Southampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all accounting functions, ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to senior leadership. This is a critical role that demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to financial management within a dynamic global organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS/UK GAAP).
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and report variances.
- Manage internal and external audits, ensuring compliance and timely resolution of audit findings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international financial regulations and tax requirements.
- Provide financial analyses and reports as needed to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.
Required Skills
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience in a similar financial management role.
- Proven experience with financial statement preparation and general ledger functions.
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
- Experience with creating financial statements.
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
- Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional leadership and communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a large professional services firm or multinational company.
- Proficiency with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Master's degree in Finance or Business Administration.
- Experience with M&A financial integration processes.
