Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced AO5 Senior Administrative Officer to join our Justice & Attorney General team in Whyalla. This pivotal role involves providing high-level administrative support, managing complex workflows, and contributing to the efficient operation of the office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting legal professionals and ensuring the smooth delivery of justice services within the region. Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced administrative and secretarial support to legal and management staff.
- Manage complex calendars, appointments, and travel arrangements.
- Prepare, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, and reports.
- Coordinate meetings, take minutes, and follow up on action items.
- Manage office supplies, equipment, and records in accordance with departmental policies.
- Assist with financial administration, including processing invoices and expense claims.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies and the public.
- Oversee junior administrative staff and provide guidance and training as required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of administrative processes and systems.
Required Skills
- Proven extensive experience in an administrative support role, preferably within a legal or government environment.
- Demonstrated high-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Superior organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Sound understanding of confidentiality and privacy principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant TAFE or VET qualification in Business Administration or a related field.
- Experience with government specific document management systems.
- Familiarity with legal terminology and processes.
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.
