Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Optics & Photonics Engineering Intern to join our innovative Laser Technology team. This internship offers a unique opportunity for current students to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic research and development environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers and scientists, contributing to the design, testing, and characterization of advanced laser systems and optical components. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about applying theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges in optics, photonics, and laser technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the setup, calibration, and maintenance of optical test benches and laser systems.
  • Conduct experiments and collect data on optical component performance and laser system characteristics.
  • Perform data analysis and present findings to the engineering team.
  • Support the design and simulation of optical systems using industry-standard software.
  • Contribute to the documentation of experimental procedures, results, and system specifications.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities related to optical and laser systems.
  • Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Optics, Photonics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of optical principles, laser physics, and wave propagation.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, power meters, spectrometers).
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Python, MATLAB).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of coursework in advanced optics, laser systems, or optoelectronics.
  • Experience with optical design software (e.g., Zemax, LightTools, COMSOL).
  • Previous involvement in academic projects or research related to lasers or optical systems.
  • Basic programming skills (e.g., Python, C++).
  • Understanding of semiconductor device physics.
