Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Student Nurses for an unpaid placement opportunity within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. This internship is designed to provide invaluable hands-on experience in a real-world healthcare setting, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge, develop practical skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the nursing profession. Under the direct supervision of experienced registered nurses and healthcare professionals, interns will observe patient care, assist with daily clinical tasks, and learn about the multidisciplinary approach to healthcare delivery. This placement is ideal for students currently enrolled in a recognized nursing program who are seeking to fulfill clinical hours or enhance their professional development. No prior professional experience is required, as comprehensive guidance and support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe and assist registered nurses in providing direct patient care.
- Learn and practice basic nursing skills under supervision, such as vital sign monitoring, patient hygiene, and mobility assistance.
- Participate in patient assessments and care planning discussions.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare team members.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.

Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent program.

- Basic computer literacy.
Preferred Qualifications
