Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Cattery Hand to join our dedicated team in Townsville. This part-time role involves assisting with the daily care and comfort of cats staying in our cattery facility. It’s an easy-going role perfect for someone who loves animals and is looking for consistent day shifts. No prior experience is necessary, as full training will be provided to the right candidate. Your primary focus will be ensuring a clean, safe, and stimulating environment for all our feline guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning and sanitization of cat enclosures, litter trays, and common areas.
  • Prepare and provide meals according to individual dietary requirements and schedules.
  • Monitor cats for any signs of illness, stress, or changes in behavior and report to veterinary staff.
  • Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff (after training).
  • Engage with cats through play, grooming, and gentle handling to ensure their comfort and well-being.
  • Maintain inventory of cattery supplies and report needs.
  • Assist with laundry duties related to the cattery.
  • Ensure all health and safety protocols are strictly followed.

Required Skills

  • A genuine love and respect for animals, especially cats.
  • Reliability and punctuality for scheduled shifts.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks such as bending, lifting (light), and standing for periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience, even informal, with animal care or volunteering at a shelter.
  • Basic animal first aid knowledge.
  • Own reliable transport.
