Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and reliable Prison Cafeteria Server to join our team in a correctional facility in Cedar Rapids, IA. This critical role involves preparing and serving meals to inmates, maintaining strict sanitation standards, and adhering to all security protocols within an institutional setting. The ideal candidate will be highly dependable, possess a strong work ethic, and be able to work effectively in a structured environment. This position requires successfully passing an extensive background check and drug screening.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and serving of daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) in accordance with menus and portion control guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety regulations and correctional facility security procedures.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor food temperatures and ensure proper food handling practices.
  • Interact professionally and respectfully with facility staff, inmates, and fellow team members.
  • Report any safety hazards, security concerns, or food quality issues to management immediately.
  • Complete required documentation and logs accurately.

Required Skills

  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in food service or institutional settings (e.g., hospitals, schools, other correctional facilities).
  • Food Handler's Permit or certification.
