Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Court Support Assistant to join our team, playing a crucial role in supporting the efficient operation of family court proceedings. This government role involves providing essential administrative assistance, acting as a point of contact for court users, and ensuring that all procedural requirements are met with sensitivity and accuracy. You will work within a fast-paced and challenging environment, directly contributing to the delivery of justice and support for families in difficult circumstances. This position requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and an empathetic approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to Family Court staff, including managing correspondence, scheduling appointments, and preparing documentation.
- Act as a primary point of contact for court users, offering sensitive and clear guidance on court procedures and directing them to appropriate support services.
- Maintain accurate and confidential court records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Liaise effectively with legal professionals, social workers, and other agencies involved in family court cases.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of court listings and case files.
- Operate court technology and systems, including case management software.
- Ensure the court environment is welcoming and accessible for all users.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and nature of the post, as required by management.
Required Skills
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate sensitively and professionally with diverse individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to dealing with sensitive family matters.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an administrative role within a legal, public service, or customer-facing environment.
- Knowledge of family law procedures or court systems.
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Business Administration or a related field.
