Job Description
As a Packaging Engineering Intern at PepsiCo Canada, you will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the development and optimization of packaging solutions for our beloved FMCG brands. This hands-on internship is designed for aspiring packaging engineers eager to gain practical experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work alongside experienced engineers, learning about material science, design principles, sustainability initiatives, and supply chain considerations for packaging that protects products, delights consumers, and minimizes environmental impact. This role offers a chance to apply academic knowledge to real-world challenges and gain invaluable industry exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, development, and testing of new packaging concepts and materials.
- Support packaging qualification processes, including conducting performance tests and analyzing results.
- Contribute to projects focused on improving packaging efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability.
- Help maintain accurate packaging specifications and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, operations, marketing, and procurement.
- Research new packaging technologies and material trends to identify potential innovations.
- Participate in root cause analysis for packaging-related issues and propose corrective actions.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Prior project experience related to packaging design or material science.
- Knowledge of various packaging materials and their properties (e.g., plastics, paperboard, glass, flexibles).
- Familiarity with packaging sustainability principles (e.g., recyclability, compostability, light-weighting).
