Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transplant Surgeon to join our prestigious surgical team in Brighton. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our expanding transplant program, performing life-saving organ transplant surgeries, managing pre- and post-operative patient care, and contributing to clinical research and education. Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex organ transplant surgeries, including but not limited to kidney, liver, and pancreas transplants.
- Provide expert pre-operative assessment and post-operative management for transplant recipients and living donors.
- Participate in on-call rotations for transplant emergencies and donor procurements.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nephrologists, hepatologists, immunologists, and transplant coordinators.
- Engage in clinical research, publish findings, and contribute to the advancement of transplant surgery.
- Mentor and educate junior surgeons, residents, and medical students.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols within the transplant program.
- Participate in transplant committee meetings and patient selection conferences.
Required Skills
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency program.
- Board Certification in General Surgery.
- Completion of an accredited Transplant Surgery fellowship program.
- Extensive experience in performing complex organ transplant surgeries.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing transplant recipient and donor care.
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to patient safety and ethical medical practice.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent research degree.
- Experience in a leadership role within a transplant program.
- Record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national/international conferences.
- Specific expertise in multi-organ transplantation or complex re-transplantation cases.
- Participation in professional societies related to transplant surgery.
