Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Support professional to join our team, focusing on preschool settings within Warrnambool. This vital role involves assisting early childhood educators, providing direct support to children, and contributing to the smooth operation of preschool programs. You will play a key part in creating a positive and enriching experience for young learners, working within a supportive state government framework.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist early childhood educators in the implementation of educational programs and daily activities.
  • Provide direct supervision and support to children, individually or in small groups, to foster their development and engagement.
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and organised learning environment in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Support administrative tasks, including record-keeping, material preparation, and parent communication.
  • Collaborate effectively with educators, parents, and other specialists to address children's needs and promote wellbeing.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to all departmental policies, procedures, and child safety standards.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 12 months experience working with children in an early childhood or educational setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of child development principles and early learning practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Current Working With Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one.
  • Commitment to child safety and wellbeing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF).
  • Experience working within a government or large organisational setting.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications.
