Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dialysis / Renal Nurse to join our specialized renal unit in Peterborough. Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients undergoing hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
- Monitor patients during dialysis, responding to any complications or changes in condition promptly and effectively.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Educate patients and their families on renal disease, dialysis procedures, dietary restrictions, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain and operate dialysis equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring proper disinfection and maintenance.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nephrologists, dietitians, and social workers, to optimize patient outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and national guidelines for renal care.
- Participate in continuing professional development and training initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge in renal nursing.
Required Skills
- Valid NMC registration (Adult Nurse)
- Minimum of 2 years post-registration experience, with at least 1 year in a renal or dialysis setting
- Proficient in hemodialysis and/or peritoneal dialysis procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Strong organizational and time management abilities
- Commitment to patient-centered care
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-basic qualification in Renal Nursing or equivalent
- Experience with electronic patient record systems (EPR)
- Mentorship qualification or experience in supporting junior staff
