Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Resource Recovery Hand to join our dedicated team at the Council Recycling Center in Salisbury. In this vital role, you will contribute to the efficient operation of our recycling facility, ensuring materials are sorted, processed, and prepared for further recycling or disposal in an environmentally responsible manner. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are physically fit, enjoy hands-on work, and are passionate about contributing to a cleaner, greener community. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort and separate various recyclable materials including plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, and metals.
- Operate basic machinery and equipment safely and efficiently as required (e.g., forklifts, compactors, balers – training provided).
- Assist with the loading and unloading of waste and recyclable materials.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the recycling center and work areas.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Inspect incoming materials for contamination and ensure proper segregation.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards promptly.
- Provide assistance to the public and other staff as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a waste management or industrial environment.
- Current Driver's License (Car).
- Forklift license (LF) or willingness to obtain one.
- Knowledge of recycling processes and materials.
