Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Cadet Quantity Surveyor to join our team for a Tier 1 placement in Mount Barker, South Australia. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for individuals passionate about the construction industry who are looking to kickstart their career with a leading global contractor. As a Cadet Quantity Surveyor, you will receive comprehensive training and mentorship, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of cost management, procurement, and contract administration on large-scale projects. No prior experience is required, just a strong willingness to learn and a drive to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior Quantity Surveyors with project cost control and financial management.
- Support in the preparation of tender documentation and contractor procurement.
- Learn to review and assess contractor claims and progress payments.
- Contribute to the measurement and valuation of construction work.
- Assist with cost reporting, forecasting, and budget management.
- Participate in site visits to understand project progress and cost implications.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to project costs.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and numerical abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated interest in the construction industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of construction principles and processes.
- Prior exposure to construction environments (e.g., through casual work or volunteering).
- Familiarity with estimating software or tools (training will be provided).
