Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our scientific testing team in Gosford on an ongoing, full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting a variety of laboratory tests, preparing samples, maintaining equipment, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all scientific data. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine laboratory tests and analyses according to established protocols and quality standards.
- Prepare samples for analysis, including weighing, diluting, extracting, and other necessary pre-treatment procedures.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including calibration, troubleshooting minor issues, and performing preventative maintenance.
- Record, interpret, and report test results accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with data integrity policies.
- Monitor inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents, assisting with ordering as needed.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and laboratory policies.
- Participate in quality control procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in scientific testing.
- Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing tasks and recording data.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or similar data entry software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related scientific field.
- Experience with analytical instrumentation such as GC-MS, HPLC, ICP-MS, or similar.
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 accreditation requirements.
- Previous experience in environmental, food, or material testing laboratories.
