Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Procurement Officer to join our dynamic team in Port Lincoln. This APS-level role focuses on enhancing our supply chain and logistics capabilities through effective procurement strategies. The successful candidate will be instrumental in acquiring necessary goods and services, ensuring compliance with Australian Public Service (APS) procurement guidelines, and contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of AMLA’s operations. You will manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and analyse procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute end-to-end procurement activities including sourcing, tendering, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with Australian Public Service (APS) guidelines, Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs), and internal AMLA policies.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to foster collaborative outcomes.
  • Analyse market trends and procurement data to identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and innovation.
  • Manage procurement-related documentation, records, and systems accurately and efficiently.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of supply chain and logistics strategies.
  • Provide advice and guidance on procurement best practices to internal teams.
  • Resolve issues pertaining to contracts, deliveries, and supplier performance.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a procurement or supply chain role, preferably within a government or large organisational setting.
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles, processes, and contract management.
  • Familiarity with the Australian Public Service (APS) procurement framework and Commonwealth Procurement Rules (CPRs).
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Membership with relevant professional bodies (e.g., CIPS).
  • Experience with maritime logistics or related industries.
  • Project management skills.
