Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Charity Regulator Administrator to join our team in Newcastle. In this vital role, you will support the regulatory oversight of charities operating within New South Wales, acting as a crucial liaison between the department and various public sector bodies, as well as providing administrative support for charity compliance activities. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to public service. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of regulatory processes and fostering effective communication channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for regulatory compliance and charity registration processes.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for inquiries from registered charities and public sector partners.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports, briefing notes, and correspondence related to charity regulation.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within departmental databases and systems.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, and events with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Research and compile information to assist in policy development and regulatory reviews.
  • Liaise with other government agencies, local councils, and non-profit organizations to facilitate information sharing and collaborative initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.

Required Skills

  • Proven administrative or office support experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated capacity to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, public sector governance and regulatory frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in business administration, public policy, law, or a related field.
  • Experience working within a government or regulatory environment.
  • Familiarity with the Australian charitable sector.
