Job Description
Join AtkinsRealis as an Environmental Science & Sustainability Intern and gain invaluable hands-on experience in both field and office environments. This is an entry-level position where full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior environmental scientists in conducting field surveys, data collection, and site assessments across various project locations.
- Process and analyze environmental data, utilizing standard methodologies and preparing initial reports and presentations.
- Conduct research on environmental regulations, policies, and best practices relevant to ongoing projects.
- Support the development of sustainability strategies and impact assessments for a diverse range of projects.
- Collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams on project planning and execution.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all project activities, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
- Participate in client meetings and internal workshops, contributing to project discussions and learning from experienced professionals.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated (within 12 months) from a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Ecology, Geography, or a closely related scientific or engineering field.
- Demonstrable strong interest and passion for environmental protection and sustainable development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data management and report generation.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Eagerness to learn, adapt to new challenges, and take initiative in a fast-paced professional environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for mapping and spatial analysis.
- Introductory knowledge of UK environmental legislation and policy frameworks.
- A valid UK driving license, as some field work may require travel to various sites.
- Previous academic project experience with data analysis tools or statistical software.
