Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Big Data Architect with expertise in Hadoop and Spark to join our dynamic engineering team. This role is pivotal in designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable, and high-performance big data platforms and solutions. You will be responsible for defining the architecture, technology stack, and best practices for our data ecosystem, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility for various analytical and product development needs. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable big data architectures using Hadoop, Spark, and related technologies.
- Lead the development and optimization of data pipelines for ingestion, processing, and transformation of large datasets.
- Evaluate and recommend new big data technologies and tools to enhance platform capabilities.
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to understand data requirements and translate them into technical designs.
- Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Troubleshoot and optimize performance issues within the big data environment.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all architectural designs and solutions.
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years of experience in big data architecture and engineering.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, YARN, Hive, Impala).
- Strong proficiency in Apache Spark for large-scale data processing.
- Expertise in at least one programming language: Python, Scala, or Java.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their big data services.
- Solid understanding of database systems (SQL and NoSQL).
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with real-time data streaming technologies like Kafka or Kinesis.
- Familiarity with data governance tools and practices.
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Certifications in big data technologies or cloud platforms.
- Prior experience in a leadership or mentorship role.
