Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Alarm Technician to join our team in Launceston, TAS. This role focuses on ongoing service work, including routine maintenance, inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of various fire alarm systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring the compliance and optimal performance of fire safety systems for our commercial and industrial clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fire alarm system components, relevant Australian standards, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and routine inspections on fire alarm systems.
- Conduct testing of fire alarm devices, control panels, and related equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot faults, identify root causes, and implement effective repairs.
- Respond to service calls and emergency breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner.
- Complete all necessary documentation, including service reports, fault logs, and compliance certificates.
- Adhere to all relevant Australian standards, codes, and company safety procedures.
- Provide excellent customer service and maintain professional relationships with clients.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Technician or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of various fire alarm systems and their components.
- Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards (e.g., AS 1670, AS 1851).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent).
- Fire Industry Accreditation (e.g., FIA or equivalent).
- Experience with a variety of fire alarm brands and software.
- First Aid certification.
- White Card (Construction Induction).
