Job Description

The Meals on Wheels Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing and overseeing the daily operations of our Meals on Wheels program. This position involves coordinating volunteers, scheduling meal deliveries, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and serving as a compassionate point of contact for our senior residents. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, possess excellent communication skills, and have a genuine passion for community service and supporting vulnerable populations. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of many seniors in the Kailua community, ensuring they receive nutritious meals and regular social interaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily scheduling and routing for meal deliveries to program participants.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise a dedicated team of volunteer drivers and assistants.
  • Maintain accurate records of client information, meal counts, and delivery logs.
  • Coordinate with food service providers to ensure timely and appropriate meal preparation and packaging.
  • Conduct regular welfare checks on program recipients during deliveries and report any concerns.
  • Ensure all program activities comply with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Manage program inventory, including insulated bags and delivery supplies.
  • Address client inquiries, concerns, and special dietary needs with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Prepare and submit program reports to department management as required.
  • Act as a liaison between the department, volunteers, clients, and community partners.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in program coordination or similar administrative role.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid Hawaii Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Commitment to serving the senior community.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Experience with volunteer management systems or CRM software.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and services for seniors.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Hawaiian, Tagalog, Japanese) is a plus.
