Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and analytical ATO Revenue Officer with a strong Federal Finance Focus to join our team in Brisbane. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to the effective administration of Australian tax and superannuation laws, ensuring compliance and providing support to taxpayers. This position requires a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to public service. You will work on complex financial cases, interpret legislation, and engage with various stakeholders to resolve issues and enforce compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and review tax returns and financial statements to ensure compliance with federal tax laws.
  • Investigate and resolve complex tax issues, anomalies, and potential non-compliance cases.
  • Communicate effectively with taxpayers, tax agents, and other government agencies to provide advice and resolve disputes.
  • Prepare clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other documentation related to case management.
  • Contribute to the identification of emerging compliance risks and assist in developing strategies to address them.
  • Utilise various ATO systems and databases to accurately record and manage taxpayer information.
  • Stay informed about changes in tax legislation, policies, and procedures.

Required Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong ethical conduct and a commitment to public service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Law, Economics, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a compliance, regulatory, or government role.
  • Understanding of the Australian tax and superannuation system.
