Job Description
We are offering an exciting student placement opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for the creative arts and an interest in gallery operations. This placement is designed to provide hands-on experience in various aspects of running a regional art gallery, including exhibition support, collection management, public programs, and administrative tasks. This is an entry-level role perfect for students looking to gain practical experience and a deeper understanding of the arts sector. Full training and mentorship will be provided by our experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation and de-installation of art exhibitions.
- Support the registration and cataloguing of artworks within the gallery collection.
- Help prepare and distribute promotional materials for exhibitions and events.
- Aid in the setup and execution of public programs, workshops, and guided tours.
- Conduct basic research related to artists, artworks, or exhibition themes.
- Perform general administrative tasks to support gallery operations.
- Engage with gallery visitors, providing information and assistance as needed.
- Contribute to the maintenance of gallery spaces to ensure a welcoming environment.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a relevant creative arts, cultural studies, or museum studies program.
- Demonstrated passion for art and cultural institutions.
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with art handling best practices (training will be provided).
