Job Description

We are offering an exciting student placement opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for the creative arts and an interest in gallery operations. This placement is designed to provide hands-on experience in various aspects of running a regional art gallery, including exhibition support, collection management, public programs, and administrative tasks. This is an entry-level role perfect for students looking to gain practical experience and a deeper understanding of the arts sector. Full training and mentorship will be provided by our experienced team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation and de-installation of art exhibitions.
  • Support the registration and cataloguing of artworks within the gallery collection.
  • Help prepare and distribute promotional materials for exhibitions and events.
  • Aid in the setup and execution of public programs, workshops, and guided tours.
  • Conduct basic research related to artists, artworks, or exhibition themes.
  • Perform general administrative tasks to support gallery operations.
  • Engage with gallery visitors, providing information and assistance as needed.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of gallery spaces to ensure a welcoming environment.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant creative arts, cultural studies, or museum studies program.
  • Demonstrated passion for art and cultural institutions.
  • Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with art handling best practices (training will be provided).
  • Experience with social media or content creation.
  • Previous volunteer experience in an arts or cultural setting.
