Job Description

Svitzer Australia is seeking enthusiastic individuals for a Marine Engineer Cadet position based out of Maryborough, QLD. This entry-level role is designed for aspiring marine engineers with no prior experience, offering a comprehensive training program onboard our coastal vessels. You will gain practical, hands-on experience under the guidance of experienced engineers, learning the intricacies of vessel machinery, systems, and operations. Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in and complete all aspects of the structured cadet training program.
- Assist senior marine engineers with the maintenance, inspection, and repair of vessel machinery and equipment, including main engines, generators, auxiliary systems, and propulsion units.
- Learn to monitor vessel systems and engine room parameters, identifying potential issues and reporting them promptly.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies at all times.
- Maintain accurate records and logbooks as directed by senior officers.
- Contribute to general housekeeping and cleanliness of the engine room and associated spaces.
- Undertake duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer to support safe and efficient vessel operations.
- Participate in drills and emergency preparedness exercises to ensure readiness for all situations.
