Job Description
Are you passionate about data and eager to kick-start your career in analytics? BHP is looking for a motivated and curious Junior Data Analyst to join our team in Mackay. This is an incredible opportunity for someone with foundational knowledge in Python and SQL who is looking for a structured mentorship program to grow their skills. You will work alongside experienced data professionals, gaining hands-on experience in data extraction, analysis, and visualization, directly contributing to operational insights and strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in collecting, cleaning, and preparing data from various sources using SQL and Python.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to visualize key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with senior analysts and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
- Participate in data quality initiatives, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of datasets.
- Learn and apply new analytical techniques and tools under the guidance of mentors.
- Document data processes, methodologies, and findings clearly and concisely.
Required Skills
- Foundational knowledge of SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Basic proficiency in Python for data analysis (e.g., Pandas, NumPy).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
